Visa, American Express decisions mean fewer technical jobs in Tucson, Ariz.

Jul. 23--Tucson stands to lose an estimated 90 technical jobs if two major credit-card companies stick by their decisions to drop CardSystems Solutions Inc. as a payment processor after a major security breach.

CardSystems President and CEO John M. Perry told a congressional committee Thursday that the Atlanta-based company faces closure if Visa and American Express don't reconsider.

"We are disappointed with these actions and, in light of our diligent efforts to remediate, hope that both Visa and American Express will agree to discuss their decision with us and reconsider, lest we be forced to permanently close our doors," Perry told the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

CardSystems employs about 115 people, including 90 at its operations center at 6390 E. …
