Fed: Labor shuffles frontbench
CANBERRA, Aug 23 AAP - Outspoken Labor MP Mark Latham was today elevated to the shadowcabinet in a reshuffle following the departure of MP Stephen Martin.
Opposition Leader Simon Crean said Mr Latham would take responsibility for a new areaof community security, as well as his current responsibilities of economic ownership,housing and urban development.
Mr Crean said frontbench newcomer Annette Ellis would become the new Labor spokeswomanfor the ageing and seniors.
He said current industry spokesman Craig Emerson would gain responsibility for trade.
That move would result in a splitting of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Tradeunder a future Labor government.
Anthony Albanese will become Labor spokesman for employment services while David Coxwill become assistant treasurer spokesman.
