BULLS TRAVEL TO STEEL CITY TO FACE PITTSBURGH

The Records: USF comes into Saturday's game with a 10-14 record (1-9 BIG EAST). Pittsburgh is 11-12 on the year and is 3-7 in the BIG EAST.

Rankings: Neither USF or Pittsburgh are ranked in the Associated Press or the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 polls.

The Series: Saturday's game is the eighth meeting all-time between USF and Pittsburgh, with the Panthers holding a 5-2 series lead.

Last Time Out: USF is coming off a disappointing 67-38 loss to Georgetown on Feb. 8. Pittsburgh lost to Rutgers, 54-42, on Feb. 8.

A Look Ahead: USF will return home on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. when it faces St. John's. Pittsburgh butts heads with Providence on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.

THE LOWDOWN

The University of South Florida women's basketball team returns to the road this week as it closes out a short two-game road stretch at Pittsburgh on Saturday, Feb. 12 ... Tip-off at the Petersen Events Center is slated for 2 p.m. ... Saturday's game - and all games this season - can be heard on 1010 AM CBS Sports Radio with Ronan O'Shea calling the action and former USF men's basketball standout Andrikk Frazier handling the color commentary (home games only) ... In addition, fans can follow the action via the world wide web by logging onto GoUSFBulls.com and selecting the BullsVision option to get live audio and video streaming ... Saturday's game with the Panthers is the second of two straight road games for the Bulls, and the third of three games that were played in a four game stretch away from the Sun Dome ... The lone contest at home, in the four outings, came on Feb. 5 vs. No. 8/8 Notre Dame, a 76-68 loss for USF ... Following its meeting with Pittsburgh, USF will return home for its first back-to-back home games since it faced North Florida (68-35 win) on Dec. 12 and Wake Forest (63-45 win) on Dec. 14 ... USF has forced its opponents into 24 or more turnovers in eight of its 24 games this season, and double-digit miscues in 23-of-24 outings ... The Bulls are coming off a 67-38 loss to Georgetown on Tuesday night in Washington, D.

C. ... Andrea Smith led the way for USF with nine points, while Daleisha Carn and Porche Grant added eight points in the loss ... On the year, the Bulls are being led by Smith - who is the team's only double-digit scorer - averaging 16.8 points per game ... Twin sister Andrell Smith is second in scoring averaging 7.7 points per contest and Grant is right behind in third at 7.5 points per game ... Grant also continues to lead the team in rebounding grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game and McDonald has the edge leading the Bulls in blocked shots on the year with 30 (1.2 bpg).

THE SERIES VS. PITTSBURGH

Saturday's game marks the eighth game all-time between USF and Pittsburgh, with the Panthers holding a 5-2 series lead dating back to the 2005-06 season ... If there is one team, however, that USF has ignited a bit of a rivalry with in the BIG EAST, that team would have to be Pittsburgh ... The teams faced off during the 2005-06 season in two epic games that were each decided by two points, in the final five seconds, by the same player (former Panther Mallorie Winn).

Four of the seven games played in this series have been decided by a combined total of nine points with three of the four being decided in the final seconds of the contest.

The Bulls look for their first-ever win over the Panthers at the Petersen Events Center.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS

Pittsburgh comes into Saturday's game with an 11-12 record and a 3-7 slate in BIG EAST Conference play ... The Panthers are coming off a 54-42 loss at Rutgers on Tuesday night, snapping their short two-game winning streak ... Pittsburgh is 3-7 in its last 10 games after starting the season 8-5.

Taneisha Harrison leads three players in double figures averaging 14.1 points per game ... Jania Sims and Chelsea Coleman are second and third netting 13.0 points and 10.3 points per contest respectively ... Chelsea Cole leads the team in rebounding grabbing 9.7 boards per outing.

LAST YEAR VS. PITTSBURGH

USF won its second consecutive game with a 68-51 victory over Pittsburgh on Jan. 20, 2010 in Tampa

The Bulls, who led wire-to-wire, shot 51.1 percent (23-45) from the field and 56.3 percent (9-16) from behind the three-point arc, their best three-point shooting performance since hitting 56 percent(14-25) against Cincinnati on Feb. 28, 2009, and the ninth best percentage in school history for a single-game.

USF controlled the boards out-rebounding the Panthers 42-37, marking the fifth straight game where Pitt had lost the battle of the glass.

Janae Stokes led four players in double figures with a game-high 22 points while Leondra Doomes-Stephens added 12 points in the win ... Jessica Lawson and Sequoyah Griffin chipped in with 11 points ... Lawson also added 11 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the year.

LAST TIME OUT

The Bulls are coming off a disappointing 67-38 loss at Georgetown, where the USF scored just 13 points in the second half ... The Bulls also went without at field goal for te final nine minutes of the game, and only scored three points during that stretch.

Andrea Smith led the way in the scoring column with nine points, while Daleisha Carn and Porche Grant each added eight points.

The Bulls shot just 23.7 percent (14-59) from the field, and a dismal 0-18 from three-point range.
