NSW: Exporters may have to change strategies - Austrade

The Australian Trade Commission Business says opportunities still exist for exporters
in the wake of the September 11 attacks but strategies have to change.

Austrade executive general manager for the Middle East/Indian Ocean, ROGER BAYLISS,
told a seminar in Sydney markets have changed as the result of the attacks.

He says opportunities for business are still there but exporters may have to adapt
their approach in a number of specific markets.

Mr BAYLISS says world economic growth had been slowing prior to the events of September
11 and the further slowdown will affect most of Australia's trading partners.

He says recovery will take longer than other crises such as the 1997 Asian economic downturn.
