FED:Fairfax appoints new radio head

SYDNEY, Dec 19 AAP - Fairfax Media has appointed a new boss of its radio arm.

Adam Lang, now with Southern Cross Austereo as general manager Sydney and national
director of operations of metropolitan radio, will start as Fairfax Radio chief executive
in March.

Fairfax Radio acting executive chairman Michael Anderson says Mr Lang's appointment
comes after general manager Graham Mott indicated he wanted to step back from day-to-day
operations.

Mr Mott, who was diagnosed with abdominal cancer two years ago, will stay on as programming
consultant.

"Graham has been a guiding force in helping Fairfax Radio navigate a challenging environment
over the last four years and I'm pleased that his experience after 43 years in radio will
continue to make a valuable contribution to the group," Mr Anderson said in a statement.

In October, Fairfax said plans to sell its major radio assets - which included Melbourne's
3AW, Sydney's 2UE and Perth's 6PR - were off the table after a lack of acceptable offers.
